Welcoming Heroes Home
Honor Flight holds a profoundly personal meaning for Al. It's about providing closure for our veterans, giving them the proper welcome home they so richly deserve. To witness their joy and to fill their hearts with song fills my own heart with immense happiness. It's more than just music; it's a profound connection and a tribute to their selfless service.
How Al's mission with the Honor Flight started.
As a veteran of the Michigan Army National Guard as a cannon crewman 13B with the 119th field artillery in Charlotte, MI. I have 2 uncles who served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam and my cousin and brother- in law where U.S. Marines. I am proud of my son having served in the U.S. Army during Operation Iraqi Freedom. The call to honor our service members runs deep within me and American Pride!
My involvement with Honor Flight was in a way, serendipitous. 6 years ago, when a scheduled performer for the event fell ill, I was asked by my dear friend Arleen if I could fill in for him. After I agreed and performed the song "Welcome Home" I fell in love with the cause. After that performance I felt a calling to give more. After several missions later, I was compelled to write 2 special songs, 1. "Honor Flight" co-written with David Vincent, 2. "Salute Our Heroes," and I also perform "Welcome Home" written by Rory Feeks . All of which are dedicated to this incredible cause.
